If you are interested in developing leaders for your campus ministry and for the broader church or in equipping young adults to witness in their campus or professional communities, a Leadership Conference is for you (and your students!).
An alliance of campus ministries in the midwest teamed up some years ago to host a Leadership/Peer Minister Retreat annually, usually in early February. Camps in Indiana and Michigan have served as venues. The gathering has been a truly grassroots event—drawing ministries from both the midwest and other parts of the country. Speakers have included campus ministry leaders, seminary professors, and other trailblazers with a heart for mobilizing students in the work of spiritual growth and outreach. Student groups are invited to lead Bible studies and devotions. Members of the worship band are recruited from the participating ministries and learn to work together onsite!
Since 2014, the event has a new name: the Campus Ministry Leadership Conference! To get an sense of what this great event was like, read the report about the 2016 CMLC in our Ignite newsletter.
We like this model for equipping and networking—and we’d love to see it replicated in other regions! Interested in offering a Leadership Conference event for the students/young adults in… Texas-Oklahoma-Louisiana, or Missouri-Tennessee-Southern Illinois, Washington-Idaho-Oregon, Kansas-Nebraska-Iowa…or wherever you are?
