Ignite Fall 2016: Come to Campus Ministry Leadership Conference 2017!
Campus Ministry Leadership Conference 2017 is February 10-11—and registration is live!
CMLC2017’s intensive leader-training program features speaker Mark Novacek (photo), who directs high school youth and young adult ministries at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, Ill. Mark’s topic: “The Power of YES—Amazing Things Happen When We Say YES to the Holy Spirit’s Work in Us.” You and your student leaders will be inspired and energized as Mark shares life stories and opens up Scripture to explore the power and freedom of saying YES to the Spirit.
CMLC2017 is being hosted by the campus ministry at Valparaiso University! When CMLC2017 planners discovered a scheduling challenge at our regular go-to venue, our friends at Valpo stepped up—and we’re excited to be able to partner with them. The majority of CMLC2017’s activities will be held at the university’s Chapel of the Resurrection. Participants will be lodged at a hotel across the street from the Valpo campus. The conference registration fee ($65 through February 3; $75 February 4 through February 10) will cover both lodging and meals onsite.*
As in past years, student groups will be recruited to lead icebreaker/fellowship activities, devotions and idea-sharing sessions. Students who play instruments or sing are encouraged to sign up for the legendary “Facebook Connection” praise band to help lead music during devotional times; just go to the CMLC2017 Facebook event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/1723782547940656) and post “I sing/play ____ and want to be part of the awesome CMLC praise group!” (or something similar in your own words).
Come Scout CMLC!
We know that not everybody is a short drive away from northwestern Indiana. For some groups, coming to this great one-day gathering would be a serious road trip indeed. But we’re also convinced that a CMLC-style event is a great blessing to student and staff leaders alike—and there’s nothing stopping you from launching one in your own back yard—and we want to help. So we invite you to come to CMLC2017 to consult with our seasoned conference planners and maybe begin to dream how the CMLC model could work in your region with just a few partner ministries. Bring along one or two student leaders just to get their perspective!
And if this has piqued your curiosity but the budget is tight, contact us for information about registration-fee scholarships. That’s right—scholarships. E-mail executive director Greg Koenig at greg.koenig@GoLCMA.org.
